Artist Statement
“I HOPE TO INSPIRE OTHERS TO EMBRACE CREATIVITY, LET GO OF COMPARISON, AND SEE BEAUTY AND POSSIBILITY IN EVERYDAY, REUSABLE MATERIALS.”
I’m a self-taught collage artist based in Brisbane, Australia, working exclusively with analogue techniques. Using scissors, glue, and paper, I create hand-cut collages from recycled magazines, books, photographs, and found materials. Collage is my primary means of self-expression — a process that allows me to work intuitively, experiment freely, and create without rules.
My practice is guided by imagery that captures my attention and refuses to be ignored. Sometimes a single image becomes the anchor for a piece; other times my work is shaped by creative prompts and community challenges that push me to explore new ideas and techniques. While themes naturally emerge, my focus remains on making work that feels genuine and personally meaningful rather than influenced by trends or expectations.
I’m continually evolving as an artist, exploring new processes such as gelli printing and incorporating them into my collages. Some works are playful and light-hearted, others more reflective or thought-provoking — all are created with intention and care.
Art has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I studied Visual Art & Design in the early 1990s and have explored performance, photography, and film, but collage has remained a constant passion since the early 2000s. In 2022, I began sharing my work publicly for the first time, participating in community challenges and collaborative projects that reignited my confidence and creative joy. This led to my first group exhibition in 2024 — a reminder of the importance of showing up, sharing your work, and trusting your own voice.
Through my collages, I hope to inspire others to embrace creativity, let go of comparison, and see beauty and possibility in everyday, reusable materials.
